I think it is interesting that people in the new world think that being middle-aged like Linda, is horrid. They gasped and screamed when they saw her for the first time.

i feel that the book was poorly written as a whole with a lot of jumping from commentary on society to just dialog throughout chapters. i feel that he book should be put on a burn list. seriously. burn burn burn.

yeah if they were civilized...they wouldnt feed the children information through their Sleep. I feel bad for the babies because they do not get to choose how to live their lives. There lives are already picked out for them. So i am going to have to agree with seniorenglishfun newbie!!

I think the savage way of life would be much better than that of civilization simply for the fact that their is free will. Having free will is more important then just having nice things, or an easy life.

It always moved me in Brave New World when the savage demands his right to be unhappy at the end, he just wants the right to be human doesn't he? I would
rather be apart from the brave new world than be oppressed and blissfully unaware that I wasn't being who I really was in reality. Has anyone noticed how
your favourite character from this book changes with time?

Huxleygirl -
How can you be who you really are outside of the BNW and not who you are IN the BNW? The BNW is simply standardizing conditioning - which we have in one form or another regardless. An over active sense of self seems to be idealized today. The 'individual' rules it seems. |

Kevingrr, i respect your opinion, but my opinion is that the brave new world, just like the new world order is a form of control that does affect the strength
of individuals' minds and if strength of mind is diluted then there is less chance you can truely know who you are inside the brave new world then apart
from it.

Just remember, "Whoever controls the media, controls the mind."- James Douglas Morrison Aldous Huxley had far reaching influence through his chosen
form of the media(the manuscript). In all of his books he makes a point that coincides with Nietzsche. Lead yourself and follow no one. Also that the herd
mentality is a form of mass control of the population. Utopian worlds may exist, just not on this planet.

I think it's not good that you won't have individual freedom , you are terrmined to grow up on a sertain way you have no choise no freedom no nothing.
I think then live is boring. But on the other hand it does make live very simple. Because you don't have stress you are already assigned to something.

Hello you flocks.
My name is Timo, and I love to Bonk Konten. It's Dutch for bumping ass, mostly done by gay people. I'm not gay, but I'm still a Konte Bonker. Please, don't pick on me for my honesty. |
